Farewell Frank – Thank you for 12 incredible years

This month, we said farewell to our CEO, Frank Faller, who has stepped down after 12 years of remarkable leadership at Elexon Electronics. While we’re sad to see him go, we also appreciate the legacy he leaves, the direction he’s set, and the culture of quality and resilience he’s helped us build.

Leading Elexon with vision and grit

Since joining Elexon in 2012, Frank has been the driving force behind our transformation. With a background in advanced electronics manufacturing and a passion for continuous improvement, he led major upgrades to our systems, processes, and people.

He championed Lean thinking, Six Sigma, and Agile practices, helped secure major grant funding for Industry 4.0 equipment, and played a key role in helping us achieve ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS 9100 certifications. These milestones not only strengthened our operations but also positioned Elexon as a trusted partner in defence and high-reliability sectors.

Frank didn’t just improve processes; he set the right mindset. He made quality everyone’s business and reminded that rework is not an option.

Championing Elexon’s Defence Journey

Frank recognised early on that defence represented not just a new strategic direction, but a long-term commitment. He saw this as a significant opportunity, not only to grow Elexon’s presence in the sector but to uplift the entire business. By aligning us with the strictest defence requirements and developing a culture of accountability, traceability, and precision, Frank helped position Elexon as a more mature and capable organisation. This uplift benefits our customers across all industries, with improved systems, stronger project delivery, and a company-wide mindset of excellence.

Turning crisis into opportunity

When the fire struck our Brendale site in 2023, it could have been a devastating setback. Instead, it became a turning point. Thanks to Frank’s leadership and determination, we were back on our feet in just four months. With a larger, smarter, and more advanced facility.

He used that moment not just to recover, but to rebuild better. Elexon2Zero was born from that spirit. It’s a clear reflection of Frank’s belief in building systems that work, teams that care, and products that deliver peace of mind.

The launch of Elexon2Zero

One of Frank’s most recent contributions is the launch of Elexon2Zero, our company-wide commitment to achieving zero defects, zero delays, and zero returns. Elexon2Zero became more than a goal—it became a mindset shift.

Frank, with his experience in quality processes driven organisations such as Bosch and Siemens has always been aware of the fact that quality doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of great systems, strong leadership, and empowered teams. He pushed us to ask the right questions, trace every issue to the root cause, and never settle for “good enough.”

A new chapter ahead

Frank is now moving into a new chapter of his career, focusing on consulting, bringing his expertise in manufacturing strategy, quality systems, and business improvement to a wider audience.

He’s also taking an active role in PCB Connect, a major initiative aimed at re-establishing sovereign printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing in Australia. As one of its founding leaders, Frank continues to advocate for stronger supply chains, sovereign capability, and regional manufacturing growth.

With thanks, from all of us

Frank, thank you. For your leadership, your drive, and your belief in the team Elexon. You helped guide us through change, through challenge, and incredible growth. We wish you every success in what’s ahead, and we look forward to staying connected in the journey to come.
