Rock flow analysis using RockView:

RockView is the Smart Marker System’s data analysis tool or “viewer”.

RockView automatically builds a virtual copy of the mine and installed Smart Markers from mine installation and drilling plans.  Smart Marker detection data, captured automatically by the Readers, is processed in a fraction of a second.

Smart Marker detection data can be played back in various animation styles with automatic colour coding to highlight alert conditions.

This type of information has never before been available to mines.

Use RockView to:
  • Instantly identify and quantify back break in Sub Level Caves.
  • Highlight underground rills in Block Caves.
  • Measure average flow rates.
  • Correlate fragmentation size at the drawpoint with the originating ore location.
  • Compare effects of draw rates and blast parameters.
  • Identify ‘mixing’ of the ore from different underground regions.
  • And more!

RockView allows the Smart Marker trial to be visualised. The screen shots below show a Sub Level Cave installation, but the tool is also designed for use with Block Caves.

In addition to allowing the installation to be zoomed and rotated in 3D, three styles of animated playback are available.

Detected Smart Marker data animations can be played back with the following settings:
  • Compressed time playback.
A three year trial can be played back in minutes.

  • Per extracted tonne playback.
Markers detected in every 100 Tonnes (the tonnage rate can be set)

  • Constant rate playback
Detected Markers are displayed every second.

In the annotated figure above, we can see below how RockView has automatically coloured:
  • ‘Back-break’ Smart Marker detections are in red,
  • Normal primary recovery Smart markers are in green, and
  • Installed Smart Markers that are yet to be detected are a faint yellow.

The volumes V1 and V2 have been drawn on to highlight the regions affected by back-break. Knowing the density of the material being mined allows the tonnage of the affected region to be calculated.

RockView allows each view to be zoomed and rotated in 3D.

Various types of filtering can be applied to Smart Marker data and displayed for analysis.
